Copenhagen, Denmark
Walking through Copenhagen on a winter day in March, everyone is running to be warmed by the bright, warm sun.
It is obvious that the sun hasn’t made an appearance in awhile and it’s return is very much welcomed. People sunbathe from patio chairs in their winter layers outside the giant waterfront food hall. Inside the old warehouse is a range of food vendors tucked amongst communal seating areas.
Walking along Nyhavn, we soak in the iconic colorful buildings along the water before popping to a cafe to get warm by way of a caffeinated beverage. There is a simple aesthetic culturally upheld that creates a homey, thoughtful and beautiful environment. One where you feel comfortable and welcome.
Things do not seem to be contrived but somehow feel perfectly imperfect. Spaces are worn, lived in. There is an attention to detail and a value for quality present everywhere, it seems.
Wandering the cobblestone streets as the day winds down, lights flicker on inside windows and a warmth radiates, calling you come inside and enjoy a glass of wine with a friend.
